Position Overview:

Navistar Interiors and Driver’s Environment engineering team has an exciting opportunity for Senior Engineering Manager position. This leadership position is in the Interiors and Driver’s Environment department within the Global Body Engineering group.

The Interiors and Driver’s Environment department is responsible for design, development and release of all Interior systems for our commercial vehicles. The systems include Instrument Panels, Door Trim, Hard Trim (A-Pillars, B-Pillars, Hard panels), Soft Trim (Headliners, Soft panels), Storage systems, Steering Wheels, Seats, Overhead consoles, Floor Mats, Sleeper Bunks (Beds) and other Interior features.

The Senior Engineering Manager oversees and manages overall engineering functions. He would be responsible for leading the processes, problem solving and implementing solutions to the most complex and high-risk engineering issues. The Senior Engineering Manager provides leadership on a broad basis; influences technical and regulatory standards bodies. Serves as a critical asset in influencing the engineering strategy of key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for a team of up to 8 engineers.
Manages professionals and leads coordination of the activities of a section/department with responsibility for results, including costs, timing, quality, methods and staffing.
This individual receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals across multiple programs.
Work is primarily accomplished through setting direction, deploying resources and managing others.
Accountable for the performance and results of a team/group within own discipline/function.
Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors
Regularly interacts with senior management.
Assist in the development of team’s technology roadmap and strategy
Exercise full management authority, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, and other personnel actions.
Help create career development plans for direct reports.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
8 years of experience in product design/development,
2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
6 years of experience in product design/development.
2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
4 years of experience in product design/development
2 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities
Additional Requirements:
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills:
Experience in truck and/or automotive design and development process
Experience designing parts for injection molding, reaction injection molding and/or compression molding is a plus
Problem solving
Project management
Very good Oral and Written communication
Familiarity with working on timing plans and budget planning
Experience with formal presentations
Leadership – coaching, developing others, etc.
MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, MS Project
