Position: Mechanical Project Engineer
Location: North America
The Technical Service Team of MINTEQ provides all the advantages of working for a global organization, with locations around the world, whilst being part of a local team.
Mechanical Project Engineer works closely with Sales team, Project Managers, Customers and our local service team in North America, at our steel industry customer’s locations working with drafting designs and modes for all projects. This position provides technical support for installations and commissioning of equipment as well as providing technical support follow installations.
Computer aided drafting capabilities including the following:
3D modeling capabilities including taking customer CAD files and generating layout drawings to show Minteq equipment in the customer’s space.
Creating detailed engineering drawings.
Field service – Traveling to customer sites in North America to perform the following:
Troubleshooting of Minteq Wire, Laser, Gunning, Shotcrete and Tundish equipment and organize the repair of such equipment.
Supporting Sales with site visits to work with the Customer on selecting and laying out the appropriate Minteq equipment to suit their needs.
Commissioning of new equipment at customer locations.
Working with vendors to ensure Minteq equipment is being manufactured on time and to our specifications.
Managing projects and tracking timelines
Creating trip reports and work procedures

Education: 4 years Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: a minimum of five years’ experience in refractory industrial manufacturing (preferably segment related). Expert PLC programming experience.
Expertise in Computer aided drafting , 3D modeling with ability to take a CAD files and generating layout drawings to show Minteq’s equipment in the customer’s space. Creating detailed engineering drawings.
Knowledge and experience in mechanical and electrical systems and control cabinets
Able to read and understand wiring diagrams of PLC and I/O systems
Basic knowledge in the field of control technology (Allen Bradley and Siemens),
Basic knowledge about pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Knowledge of standard PC programs like MS Word, Excel, Outlook, or PowerPoint etc.
Good English knowledge, particularly technical terminology
The ability and confidence to work with international customers and colleagues.
Must be able to gather organize, and analyze data, draw conclusions,
Good management, interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical & Mental:
Ability to lift to 50 pounds (or more in certain shops). Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects. Must be able to gather data, draw conclusions and handle a high level of stress.
Work Hours: Hours may vary depending on the scope of a specific project meaning subject to work overtime, holidays, weekends as necessary. Travel away from home will also be necessary
Working Conditions: Working inside a controlled office environment or customer facilities. Also, must be able to withstand the physical pressures of standing, walking, climbing steps, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as being in a dusty, dirty industrial environment.
Travel: Business travel within North America. to perform job duties is necessary. Travel may be in a motor vehicle, public transportation, or air travel.
Physical Abilities: Ability to lift 50#. undertake This position must be able to handle stress.
Safety Equipment: Safety equipment required while performing the duties of this job include but not limited to an ANSI approved hardhat and safety glasses, safety shoes/boots with steel toe protection. Also, may be required to wear goggles, cotton or high impact gloves, work vest, respirator, and Hearing Protection,
Safety Training: A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training in person or via webinars.
Additional refresher safety training will be required as management deems appropriate or as dictated by MSHA/OSHA regulations
