Carbon Officer: West Midlands
Matchtech have a fantastic opportunity for an environmental professional to join a West Midlands based council as a Carbon Officer.
The primary purpose of your job will be to support the successful delivery of the Carbon Reduction Strategy and action plan towards meeting the Council's ambition of becoming a net-zero carbon organisation by 2050. You will represent the Council at a regional level to support the successful delivery of regional climate ambitions being led by the West Midlands Combined Authority. You will promote and assist in wider carbon reduction activities across the Council's corporate activity and the wider authority area by assisting in the development and delivery of key initiatives and projects. With your background and experience, you will be able to provide specialist advice, guidance and support on climate change related activities, ensuring the effective delivery of Council objectives.
To apply for this role:
You should be degree qualified in a related discipline or have equivalent experience.
Be able to demonstrate a record of delivering projects that contribute towards carbon reduction, climate change or sustainability objectives.
Have a technical understanding of the main causes of climate change and the actions that can be taken to reduce carbon emissions.
Be experienced in presenting technical and complex information in engaging ways and tailored to specific audiences, including stakeholder groups and the public.
