About the job:

As the Ground Modelling Lead for our Offshore Wind business, you will be at the forefront of developing our ground modelling capabilities from the ground up. You'll lead a team dedicated to delivering effective and economical solutions to complex geophysical and geotechnical Projects in the offshore wind industry. Your role will be pivotal in reducing risks, generating options, and driving key decisions in wind farm development. Please note this position would have an expectation of Project Technical work, alongside developing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Development: Build and develop a team of geophysicists, geologists, engineering geologists, and GIS specialists. Foster a collaborative environment that integrates with other teams focused on offshore foundation design, marine advisory, survey management, and research & development.

Ground Modelling Expertise: Develop and oversee integrated ground models incorporating geophysical, hydrographical, and geotechnical datasets. Ensure these models provide a comprehensive overview of site morphology, geology, geohazards, and uncertainties.

Project Management: Engage in various stages of site characterisation, from early desk studies and preliminary ground models to detailed design and foundation options.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and mitigate ground risks early in projects. Develop risk registers and conceptual designs to inform decision-making processes.

Client and Stakeholder Interaction: Provide client representative support, ensure quality control of survey data, and contribute to survey specification and tender evaluation.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry best practices and technological advancements. Ensure the team's skills and methodologies are continually updated to meet the evolving demands of the offshore wind industry.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Educational Background: A degree in Geophysics, Geology, Engineering Geology, or a related field.

Professional Experience: Proven experience in ground modelling, preferably in the offshore wind sector. Experience in supporting and developing teams is highly desirable.

Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of geophysical and geotechnical data interpretation, hydrographic datasets, and seabed conditions. Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools used in ground modelling.

Leadership Qualities: Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and support a high-performing team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks. Capable of making informed decisions based on complex data analysis.
