Join TotalEnergies Renewables USA, LLC as a Business Development Manager - Energy Storage reporting to our Boston, MA, Austin, TX, or Houston, TX office .

The Business Development Manager - Energy Storage will spearhead development for a portfolio of utility-scale energy storage projects through the formation and execution of market strategy, coordinating the efforts of a multidisciplinary team of experts to produce clear guidance for our pool of project developers and continually track and evaluate their progress.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or related discipline required - Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the US energy industry
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with energy storage projects
  • Strong familiarity with wholesale electricity markets, tariffs, market rules, state and federal regulations and legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to support utility-scale project development through business plan formation and strategy execution
  • Solid oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to take personal initiative while working effectively within a team
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

Activities

  • Lead market analysis and strategic planning for the energy storage project asset class in the United States
  • Define market-specific energy storage project business plans for each regional market of interest, leveraging internal and external subject matter experts to estimate capital expense, operating expense, long-term revenue sources to arrive at optimal project parameters
  • Coordinate grid and energy market analytics to identify ideal locations for energy storage projects, guiding the project development team to those locations.
  • Lead revenue contract strategy for energy storage projects, including counterparty prospecting, contract structuring, and negotiation.
  • Liaise with mergers & acquisition ("M&A") team members to evaluate energy storage assets for sale in markets of interest.
  • Support the obtainment of internal approvals through formal governance processes.
  • Ensure project financial models are up to date with accurate assumptions derived from thorough market intelligence.
  • Participate in industry group meetings to stay current on regulatory proceedings, legislative initiatives, and policy formation relevant to the energy storage asset class.
  • Contribute to value engineering exercises in late-stage project development and pre-construction, including the evaluation of battery supply and service proposals.
  • Represent the company as a storage development subject matter expert in community meetings, permitting processes, etc., as required.
  • Support responses to storage-related questions from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to TRU Budget and Long-Term Plan exercises and implementation.
