Candidate Profile

During the construction phase (post-FID), the Engineering Manager will follow-up the implementation of the engineering activities on site. In that respect, the Engineering Manager:
  • Becomes knowledgeable about the Key Suppliers contracts, the EPC Contract(s), the OE agreement, the O&M Agreement and various Project Agreements and manages the stakeholders effectively.
  • Ensures the timely production by the Design Institute(s) of submittals, deliverables, reviews and approvals against contractual requirements.
  • Schedules and performs the design review to ensure that all site activity by EPC Contractor(s) meets the requirements of the design provided by the Design Institute(s). For that purpose, the Engineering Manager coordinates the site activities of the Design Institute(s), the OE, the EPC contractor(s) and any other relevant consultant or third party.
  • Coordinates the site design review of the Offtaker and Grid Operator related documentation with such stakeholders.
  • Manages the engineering resources, including the Design Institute(s), the Owner's Engineer, the EPC engineering and O&M teams, when applicable.
  • Ensures that the EPC Contractor's Engineering Document List and Vendor Engineering Control List are comprehensive and updated properly.
  • Identifies and resolves potential engineering conflicts and technical deviations between approved Design Institute(s) design and EPC Contractor's design and contractual requirements.
  • Assess and manages design changes proposed by the EPC Contractor or requested by the Owner (evaluating the technical feasibility or need, the interest for the Owner, any impact on the performance or the O&M, and keeping track of potential savings and/or additional costs - the latter to be shared with the contract manager for further action).
  • Reviews routine reports, initiates appropriate actions, and ensure actions are completed in the correct timeframe.
  • Manages project engineering interfaces both internally and externally.
  • Coordinates visits to the offices of the Offtaker / Grid Operator, Design Institute(s), Key Supplier(s), EPC(s) offices, and construction sites as required.
Coordinates with the Design Institute(s) and EPC Contractor(s) the preparation of the back-up of the complete design documentation of the project, including as-built drawings, manuals, and O&M documentation.

• REN Business Unit:

o REN is Total Energies' Division in charge of the development, construction, O&M, asset management and financing of renewable projects : large and small scale (distributed generation) solar, onshore and offshore wind, off-grid energy, storage.

o Its strategic objective is to accumulate 35 GW by 2025, 100 GW of operational renewables by 2030 (end of April 2023 baseline: 18,2 GW)

Context & Environment

During the development phase (pre-FID), the Engineering Manager will be leading the detailed engineering of the project and supporting the contracting of the Key Suppliers, the EPC, the Design Institute(s) and OE. In that respect, the Engineering Manager:
  • Defines, executes and/or reviews the project feasibility studies and wind + BESS plant basic design.
  • Supports, or leads, the development of the technical appendices for the Project Agreements (PPA, and ESIA) as required, depending on the project's specific circumstances.
  • Supports, or leads, the necessary activities and early studies aiming to characterize the site conditions (topographical, geotechnical, and hydrological surveys).
  • Supports, or leads, the necessary activities and studies aiming to define the feasibility of interconnection of the projects and the best technical solution for the energy evacuation by interfacing with the Grid Operators and managing external consultants.
  • Supports the environmental and social impact study, and any other relevant permitting process, by providing the necessary technical inputs and assessing the measures to be considered in the design and execution of project in respect to the mitigations proposed by the project or the obligations coming from the permits.
  • Supports, or leads, the preparation of the technical specifications for the key Suppliers contracts, EPC contract(s), Design institute(s) agreement(s) and the OE agreement, the review of the technical proposals and the management of the technical clarifications during the tendering process.
  • Supports, or leads, the finalization and the negotiation of the technical parts of the Key Suppliers contracts, Design institute(s) agreement(s), OE agreement and EPC contract(s).
  • Becomes knowledgeable about the final PPA and other relevant external Project Agreements.
  • , ensures the timely production by the Design Institute(s) of submittals, deliverables, reviews and approvals against contractual requirements.
  • Schedules and performs the design reviews to ensure that all engineering activity by the Design Institute(s) meets the requirements of the PPA. For that purpose, the Engineering Manager coordinates the activities of the Design Institute(s), the OE, the Key Suppliers and the EPC contractor(s), and any other relevant consultant or third party.
  • Coordinates the design review of the Offtaker and Grid Operator related documentation with such stakeholders.
  • Manages the engineering resources, including the Design Institute(s), the OE, the EPC engineering and O&M teams, when applicable.
  • Ensures the submission of Project Company comments, including OE's comments, to the Design Institute(s) using the comment review sheet (CRS) through the document management system (DMS) within the contractual review period.
  • Identifies and resolves potential engineering conflicts and technical deviations between Design Institute(s) design and contractual requirements.
  • Reviews routine reports, initiates appropriate actions, and ensure actions are completed in the correct timeframe.
  • Manages project engineering interfaces both internally and externally.
  • Coordinates visits to the offices of the Offtaker / Grid Operator, Design Institute(s), Key Supplier(s), EPC(s) offices, and construction sites as required.
  • Manages and communicates all performance, resource, risk, cost, quality and schedule aspects of the engineering design process.
