Job Title: TAX MANAGER (12-15 Month Maternity cover)

Key responsibilities:
  • Reviewing, coordinating, and assisting in delivering the groups tax reporting, including overseeing and guiding finance teams within the divisions and liaising with external auditors.
  • Analyzing and consolidating tax positions, justifying the effective tax rate for bi-annual external and quarterly internal management reporting.
  • Coordinating and contributing to the delivery of tax transparency reports (Payments to Governments and Country-by-Country Reporting) and BEPS Pillar 2 obligations, including monitoring legislative developments and adapting systems and processes to address new requirements.
  • Focusing on continuous improvement of the reporting processes, including enhancing controls and the overall control environment
  • Indirect tax:
  • Providing high-level oversight of UK tax filings, ensuring assurance over key variances and their drivers.
  • Monitoring material indirect tax risks across the Group and providing appropriate challenge as necessary.
  • Direct tax:
  • Reviewing UK and overseas corporate tax returns and statutory accounts disclosures, where appropriate.
  • Managing the Senior Accounting Officer process.
  • Overseeing UK R&D claim preparation and submission, as well as other UK tax compliance obligations such as corporate interest restriction, transfer pricing positions and tax loss planning.
  • Providing oversight of tax compliance in non-UK jurisdictions (assurance).
  • Liaising with HMRC on specific enquiries for relevant statutory entities
  • Developing and maintaining procedures to oversee tax compliance globally, including adherence to policies and procedures, timeliness and accuracy of tax filings, transfer pricing positions, and documentation.
  • Supporting technical analysis and computations in relation to specific functional areas, including Substantial Shareholding Exemption, Controlled Foreign Companies and other legislation involving numerical analysis and modeling.
  • Providing ad hoc advice to the business on various tax matters as required
  • Monitoring legislative changes to ensure the impact on the group is fully understood and proposing mitigating actions where appropriate.
  • Providing tax leadership and strategic guidance to tax team in Aberdeen.
  • Developing technical and practical capabilities by providing necessary support to the business through appropriate challenge and support.


Essential Qualifications & Skills:
  • ATT/CTA/ACA qualified
  • A self-motivated individual who can proactively initiate and lead projects to completion, collaborating with team members to deliver results.
  • Proficiency in conducting tax analysis and preparing tax workings across various UK tax technical areas, demonstrating the ability to meet deadlines and drive process improvements.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with personnel at all levels of the organisation, spanning across the divisions and up to the CFO level.
  • Strong written communication skills capable of simplifying complex tax concepts for clear understanding.
  • Demonstrates the Petrofac Values.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities.
  • Strong tax reporting and tax accounting experience, including working knowledge of financial accounting systems (preferably Oracle TRCS).
  • Practical experience and a good understanding of UK and international tax legislation.
